Last weekend we hiked in to a beautiful private campsite on a wooded lakeshore, just in time for sunset over the lake. The next day we hiked at two more state parks – one a small mountain, the other in hilly terrain along a rocky river. The riverside trails were teaming with wildlife – turtles, a beautiful heron, and numerous sun-bathing snakes (incuding a venomous copperhead). After a morning’s hiking and a mountainside picnic we wrapped up our overnight visiting a beautiful old university in the closest town where we accidentally stumbled on a Gregorian Chant concert in the chapel, browsed a rare books shop, bought French pastries, and headed for home in time for church and lunch guests on Sunday. A bit crazy, but so much fun.
